A student of Italian beginner, second semester, from the fully online summer course (Summer-2025) was able to put into practice his language skills and create something that will not only be useful for his work as a cello professor, but he also can share it with the community of fellow music instructors. The student wrote the following about this project “I selected this topic because I work in Italy in the summers with a team of American musicians. We have some ability to speak Italian (enough to navigate transportation and to superficially interact with local Italians). But how to teach, rehearse, and interact with concert audiences while performing in Italy is sometimes (pun intended) foreign to us. Even though the etymology of many musical terms is Italian, there are many jargon and specific terms related to teaching and performing. Thus, a handy and easy to use guide to teaching music in Italy could be very valuable”.
